Why James? It's hard to write about yourself, well, for me it is. But when you're looking for a business coach you need to know you're going to someone who knows what they're doing! I'm going to sum up my experience as clearly, quickly and easily as I can. Hopefully still giving you an idea of what I can help you with.
Many years I've spent working with people. The Youth Work sector was a large part of that. 10+ years. 8 of which were for a charity. Grant funding kept my job afloat, so I became very good at finding funding for my own salary but also for equipment and these young people! Just over £250k in fact! My work won me an award from Comic Relief and numerous news articles. One of my projects is still up and running in Folkestone today without me there and I'm very proud of it. I highlight the word with because it's an emphasis on coaching many people through many life situations. Relationships, health, housing, mental health, jobs and so much more. When you work with people like this for so long it really helps develop your skills for business. You learn how people tick, how to read people and how to 'be' with people. This gave me good insight into starting my own business. My very first adult job was a Secondary School music teacher. I love teaching, and still do. I also love working with young people. I was able to develop my skills from teaching into coaching, and there is a distinct difference. I also became tired working for others. Which I think a lot of people do and why we start our businesses. I learned how to play with graphics and images during my charity work. there was no on else to do it. Again, skills you pick up and take with you. Lighthouse Driving School has benefited greatly from this. My web design skills came in to play at this point to. |
Customer Service skills are a massive factor for any business and you don't need a degree in this. It's about common sense, human decency and protecting your business.
The food you see rotating in the slideshow, yes, its mine. I started a Mexican takeaway and ran it for 6 months. Why?! Because I could? Because I wanted to see what would happen. Was my food good enough for public consumption? It appeared so. I obtained the 5* hygiene (which made me wonder why restaurants can't obtain it?) and my daughter helped me cook and a friend helped guide me with the delivery aspect. A business setup, running, successful all within an 8 month window. I closed it down because it was impacting my driving school and I didn't want it to. I have knowledge, I love coaching, I love sharing, I love seeing others grow. My team are testament to that. They're wonderful! Let me help your business grow too. |
